INTO NORWAY Discovers: Ormhilleren – Norway’s Most Beautiful Fjord Beach?

If Norway makes you think of steep fjords, waterfalls and towering mountains, Ormhilleren might come as a surprise. Tucked away in the north of Øygarden, you’ll find a small sandy beach with shallow water, smooth rocks and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.

On sunny days, the scenery almost feels like a little stretch of Southern European coastline – just with a distinctly Norwegian backdrop.

Best of all, Ormhilleren is less than 40 minutes from Bergen, and only around a five-minute drive from the beautiful Hjeltefjorden Fjordsenter campsite, which we also recommend.

It’s also worth visiting outside the swimming season. The light over the sea, smooth rocks and little coves make Ormhilleren a lovely place for a short walk or a relaxing break during a road trip.
