For a first visit, we recommend spending two to three days in Ålesund. This gives you plenty of time to explore the city’s Art Nouveau architecture, visit the Aksla viewpoint and take trips to the surrounding islands or fjords. If you also want to explore the Hjørundfjord, Geirangerfjord or more of the Sunnmøre region, plan for at least three to four days.
